The Tally paintings explore the counting out of moments through the use of a repeated single mark. Each mark can be seen to symbolise a moment or event, repeating and building.

By repeating a mark the surface of the painting builds, creating intricate colour relationships and patterns across the canvas. I imagine the marks continuing into and beyond the picture plain.
