FAQs

How do I purchase a painting?

Visit the Available Work page here on my website, this is where I list paintings that are available to buy today. If there’s an artwork that you’d like to own you can go ahead and purchase it securely. If you want to enquire about shipping costs or have any questions about a painting before you purchase, then please get in touch first and i’ll answer any questions you might have.

What methods of payment do you accept?

You can pay securely online with a debit, credit card or Apple Pay on this website. Online payments are processed by Stripe. Alternatively you can arrange to pay via bank transfer - for this option you will need to get in touch directly with me and I will issue an Invoice.

Why is shipping charged separately to the price of the artwork?

Buying a piece of art is an investment in a unique object and it’s important to know exactly how much you have paid for it (for example, you may choose to insure your art collection, or need valuations for other reasons and shipping costs are separate to the value of the work). We offer a range of shipping options - including a free pick up form studio and bespoke options for overseas and large items. You can read more on our Terms Page, or email if you require further advice.

What paperwork do I receive with my artwork?

It’s important that you keep documentation of your purchase for your own records. Every purchase of a painting is accompanied by a ‘Certificate of Authenticy’ which itemises the specific artwork and is signed by me. You will also receive an invoice and receipt.

When will I receive my painting?

Paintings will be shipped from the studio within 14 days of receipt of full payment. For UK deliveries please allow 3-5 days for delivery by courier, and overseas deliveries will take longer depending on your address. Please see the Shippings Page for full details of shipping costs.

Do you offer an artwork payment plan?

Split payments are available on artwork over £500GBP. Payments can be split over a maximum of 5 months. Once you have made the final payment your artwork will be delivered to you. For full details of this service please get in touch.

Do you offer painting commissions?

I do offer a commission service for collectors who want something for a specific room, location or site. Commissions begin with a discussion about my paintings and the overall vision for the work. Prices are calculated on an individual basis. There is a non-refundable deposit of 50% payable for all commissioned work. Please email me if you would like more information about the commissioning process.

Can I reserve a painting?

Paintings may be reserved for a fixed time (usually no more than 24 hours) if you need to check measurements, import duties for international shipping, or you just need to ask for a second opinion. If you would like to reserve a painiing then please get in touch at studio@lizfosterart.co.uk This is a discretionary service.

How do I hang my painting?

Paintings are fitted with D Rings and fitted with cord so that they are ready to hang. If you need advice about more secure wall fixings for larger paintings, or want general advice about where and how to hang art in your home just drop me a line.

How do I care for my painting?

There are some things that artworks don’t like - dampness, extreme variations in heat and very strong direct sunlight. So, avoid rooms like a bathroom where it gets steamy, try and avoid hanging very closely above a radiator and (especially for watercolours) avoid really strong south-facing sun traps in your home as this can bleach out the pigments reducing the vibrancy of the work.

I absolutely believe in only working with quality professional materials and all my oil paintings are created on professionally prepared ‘museum’ quality canvases. Work on paper is sold either mounted and cellophane wrapped, or fully framed. Purchasing an original artwork is purchasing an heirloom that will be enjoyed for decades to come.

Is the painting signed?

All my work is signed by me, the artist, on the back - that’s directly on the canvas or paper depending on the substrate. Once framed the signature might not be visible, but it is there!

Are paintings framed?

Some paintings are sold framed, others unframed. You will see in ‘Available Work’ that each artwork is clearly listed as either ‘framed’ or ‘unframed’. If a piece is listed as framed then this cost is already included in the listed price.

Can you frame a painting for me?

If you would like me to arrange framing of an unframed work then please get in touch and i’d be happy to advise. I use a professional framer local to me and usually select a contemporary white or grey floating frame for canvases, though other frames are available. The cost of each frame is calculated on an individual basis and is in addition to the listed purchase price of the painting. Please allow up to 4 weeks for a bespoke frame.

How accurate is the on-screen image of a painting?

Great effort is taken to capture the colour and texture of the work so that you get a truthful representation of each painting. However, there will always be some variation from screen to ‘real life’- all digital screens have different setting and qualities. If you require more images to help you decide, I’m more than happy to email high resolution images or video of a painting to help you see a work in its full glory! For this service please get in touch.

Can I visit your studio?

I open my studio for scheduled ‘Open Weekends’ two or three times a year. Outside of these time, it’s only open to guests by appointment.

Can I arrange to view a work in person?

Yes. If you’re interested in specific work and would like to arrange a private viewing then do get in touch here. We can arrange a time to suit and you can view a selection of work to help you decide which one is for you.

Would you be interested in exhibiting at our gallery?

If you are a curator or gallerist and are interested in exhibiting my work, please get in touch and we can have a conversation and take it from there.
